Korea Foundation for Women Creates a Brighter Future for Our Daughters
Entering the new millennium, our society demands a new wave of power to lead this era. In the past, our women have been running breathlessly for the cause of economic development and democracy. Now, our women desire a pursuit of new values and qualitative changes. A society in balance of spiritual values and material richness, a society where old and new co-exist, a society where globalization, economic and cultural openness and localization is realized simultaneously, a society where man and woman exist and go forth in harmony, the society of such vitality and warmth; these are what we desire.
To date, Korean women have become a root source of social development by devoting themselves to the economic growth and democracy of Korean society, and at the same time carrying out the beauty of concession and harmony for the peace in their families. Still, many women are not given the opportunities to develop their potential and our society is not fully utilizing the skills and abilities of women on which to lay the foundation for social development.
Now, our society is entering a new century of a new millennium and must be changed. Motherhood must be protected under the co-existence of man and woman by overcoming discrimination and prejudice. Female world leaders must be raised up. Female human resources in each arena of society must take a pivotal role in the national economic growth. Especially, we dream of a country where women's entry into the political world is lively carried out and the underprivileged female in society is encouraged and energized. We hope to build up our daughters to stand firm as pillars for the twenty-first century in Korea.
Korea Foundation for Women is creating funds to open such a world. This fund, as the nation's first civil women's fund, will play an essential role to bring a better future of our daughters.
