The Community Foundation of Nova Scotia (CFNS) is a public foundation whose purpose is to build and manage endowment funds to support registered charities and other eligible recipients in the province of Nova Scotia.
With its mandate to improve the quality of life throughout the province, CFNS provides donors with comprehensive philanthropic services, connecting them with the issues and organizations that matter to them and to their community. It also operates a province-wide granting program with six main areas of interest that is community-based and responsive to communities' needs.
CFNS attracts and manages charitable gifts, mainly cash, bequests, memorials, and life insurance, in the form of permanent endowments.
CFNS invests these pooled funds prudently an uses the earnings to make creative grants, often in partnership with others, to deserving charitable organizations to benefit all types of charitable activities, including:
