Fish farms are increasing in size and one single cage can typical hold 300 000 – 500 000 fish. In one fish farm there might be fish worth more than 100 million NOK. Along with the size increase of farms, work boats and well boats (to transport live fish) also get larger and larger. The increase in size of well boats and the great value of fish in the farms are two factors that put focus on the risks of operations and well boat manoeuvring. Black out of systems or erroneous handling during operations of well boats might be critical. The topic of this researcher position will be the safety assessment of fish farms, with emphasis on loads and response and possible damage of fish farms due to black out of control systems or erroneous manoeuvring of well boats. Background The researcher must hold a PhD degree in marine structures or aquaculture technology and have good English language skills. The candidate will be a part of a research team residing in Trondheim. Remuneration Researchers are remunerated in code 1109, in the State salary scale 57-76, gross NOK 438 500 to NOK 630 200 per annum (before tax). Researchers are normally remunerated at wage level 57.
