Applications are invited for M.Phil and Ph.D. studentships in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Hong Kong.
The students will be involved in working on molecular-scale processes in high temperature aqueous systems using a variety of experimental and ab initio molecular modeling techniques. Of particular interest are studies of hydrothermal organic reactions, metal ion complexation and partitioning to steam and solute-solvent clustering processes in high-temperature low-density fluids.
Students will have access to a suite of new experimental and high performance computing facilities and work in an interdisciplinary environment, interacting with groups from physics, chemistry and engineering.
Scholarships and teaching assistantships are available. Applicants should hold a B.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in Geochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
