François-Rabelais University of Tours proposes scholarships of €500/student for its summer program The Invention of Modern Europe, (14th- 17th centuries) from June 15th to 26th, 2009. Students can also participate in the international conference « Psyche and the Renaissance » from 29th June to 3rd July 2009.
Program description
The Center for Renaissance Studies (CESR), founded over 50 years ago, is a world-famous research center specialising in Renaissance Studies. Over sixty specialists offer a range of teaching programs at the Master and Doctorate levels. The library boasts a very extensive collection of ancient and modern texts. Located in the Loire Valley, where the Renaissance was born in France, the CESR is the ideal location to study this important moment in European and world history.
Contents:
The course will address the various transformations which affected Europe, from Petrarch to Descartes. The various modules will be taught by a specialist in the area:
