Information systems offer opportunities for enterprises and for people to communicate, learn, innovate and organize. The focus of this programme is to offer students the knowledge needed in order to manage these new conditions.
From development to usage
The Master Programme in Information Systems will give advanced and broad knowledge in the planning, design and use of information systems in organisations and businesses. It will also prepare for PhD studies within informatics. The aims of the programme are to give the students the knowledge to be able to describe and analyse businesses, in both a macro and micro perspective, and their need for developing information systems.
In order to be able to work in these fields, we consider it important to have the ability to critically and systematically integrate knowledge and to analyse and handle complex questions and issues. It is also important to develop one’s ability to critically, independently and in a creative way identify and express questions. The studies are based on a general set of teaching strategies including teamwork, writing papers, oral presentations and group discussions.
Organization
The programme comprises two years of full-time studies. In the first year, the students are given a general platform in further studies in information systems. The second year is devoted to in-depth studies in system development and is completed with a master thesis. The programme provides studies in a number of special areas of interest. These include process development, strategic IT planning, management of knowledge, participative design, systems theory, business intelligence supply chains, professional ethics, object oriented design and theory and method of science.
Degree
After completing the programme you can apply for a Master (two years) with specialization in Business Development Major subject: Computer Science – Informatics.
