The Stockholm university ATLAS group invites applications for a two year post-doc position to be filled early this autumn. The successful applicant is expected to contribute substantially to the preparation for and execution of data analysis in the ATLAS experiment and also to assist in supervision of students in that activity.
The Stockholm university group is active in analysis searching for stable massive particles and analysis of selected inclusive signatures with a view to perform a precision measurement of production cross sections of standard model particles (top, Z, W) and search for indiciations of beyond the standard model physics in that particular signature. The post-doc to be recruited is expected to contribute to the analysis of inclusive signatures.
To be eligible the applicant should hold, or obtain before the date of entering the position, a PhD in elementary particle physics or a relevant neighbouring field. Experience of physics analysis and programming is a merit. The post-doc will be based in Stockholm, but should be prepared to spend a substantial fraction of her/his time at CERN.
The Stockholm university group has participated in the construction of the TILE hadron calorimeter and the first level calorimeter trigger system, and the succesful applicant will be performing the normal level of ATLAS service tasks within either of these projecs.
