Job description
With reference to the project manager (main supervisor), the work of the Ph.D. fellow will consist mainly of applied microeconomic and econometric research in the agricultural and food sector. A part of the Ph.D. grant is covered by a research project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). This project aims at the quantitative analysis of Polish family farms with a special focus on labour use and labour market imperfections. This analysis includes the development and application of advanced microeconomic and econometric methods. The remaining part of the Ph.D. is not bound to a specific research topic, but can be discussed with the supervisor. However, it should be also in the area of applied microeconomics and applied econometrics in the agricultural and food sector.
The appointee should have qualifications within one or more of the following areas:
agricultural economics (e.g. farm production, family farms, agricultural households)
microeconomic modelling (e.g. farm household models, time allocation, market imperfections)
econometric methods (e.g. system estimation, stochastic frontier analysis, non-parametric econometrics, Bayesian MCMC estimation)
basic computer programming (e.g. in R)
