The University of Vienna (Austria) and the Center for Computational Materials Science (CMS) invites applications for a PhD studentship in Computational Materials Science.
The CMS in Vienna is a research center and graduate school based on a collaboration of research groups from the Faculties of Physics and Chemistry from the University of Vienna and the Technical University of Vienna. The activities of the CMS concentrate on the development of methods for multiscale simulations in condensed materials. The techniques being actively developed by the members of the CMS range from ab-initio density functional calculations (VASP, WIEN2k) to statistical-mechanical approaches for the description of liquids, amorphous materials and soft matter.
We are looking for outstanding candidates with a degree in physics, chemistry or materials science, a strong background in quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, mathematics and computing and a strong personal commitment to research. You will join a lively community performing frontline research.
The salary will be about 25300 Euro/year before taxes, the contract will be for three years. Female students are particularly encourage to apply.
