These taught courses are part of a long-term collaboration in Engineering Systems among Portuguese universities and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). As such, they offer a unique opportunity to advance your students’ and graduates’ careers as researchers and professionals.
Courses are available in the following subjects:
Bio Engineering Systems: Advanced Studies and PhD
Sustainable Energy Systems: Advanced Studies and PhD
Engineering Design and Advanced Manufacturing: Advanced Studies and PhD
Transportation Systems: Master’s and PhD
All courses are given by consortia of Portuguese universities with lecturing by MIT and Portuguese faculty.
Notable features of these courses include:
Full PhD scholarships with 980 € /month stipends available regardless of citizenship or nationality
PhD scholarship holders may spend up to 18 months conducting research at MIT (while at MIT stipend is 1710 € / month)
Lectures given by leading faculty from MIT and from Portuguese institutions
Industrial internships--for example at Rolls-Royce (UK) and DSM Dyneema (Netherlands)--entrepreneurship and innovation programs, and other opportunities to develop cross-cutting skills are integral to all courses
Global programs conducted in English with up to 40% international students. The program has attracted graduates of such distinguished international institutions as the University of California-Berkeley, Duke University, Imperial College London, King's College London, KTH (Sweden), ETH-Zurich, Technical University of Munich, and the Indian Institute of Technology.
