University of Copenhagen is inviting application for PhD Scholarship in X-ray Imaging. The successful applicant should have a relevant degree in physics, nanoscience or engineering. Experience in x-ray science and/or optics is highly beneficial. International Students can apply for these scholarships.

Eligibility:

-The successful applicant should have a relevant degree in physics, nanoscience or engineering. Experience in x-ray science and/or optics is highly beneficial.

-It is a requirement that the candidate is able to participate in teaching activities at the Niels Bohr Institute. As a person you should be both self-managed and able to work within a large cross-disciplinary team, which includes physicists, food scientists, and industrial collaborators.

Scholarship Open for International Students: International Students can apply for these scholarships.

Scholarship Description: The aim of the PhD project is to develop new x-ray imaging modalities with applications towards food. The work aims at using the newly invented grating based x-ray interferometry method and implement phase contrast and dark field imaging for various food applications. The work will involve the use of both large scale international synchrotron radiation sources as well as laboratory based set-ups at the Niels Bohr Institute and at the Technical University of Munich. The scholarship is within the project “New X-ray Imaging Modalities for Safe and High Quality Food” (NEXIM). The project is highly interdisciplinary and involves collaborations with the Institute of Food Science at the University of Copenhagen, DTU, the Danish Meat Research Institute and several companies.

What does it cover? Salary, pension and terms of employment are in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Academics Central organization. The salary depends on seniority, as agreed between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Currently, starting salaries are about 25,000 DKK (Euro 3,330) per month for Ph.D. students – plus full benefits including pension. The position is open for candidates of all nationalities.
